NIKE #PLAYPINOY
The basketball-crazy nation of The Philippines finally qualified for the Basketball World Basketball Cup after 36 years.
Using the inspirational words of Paul Anka (and the song “My Way” being considered the ‘other’ national anthem due to it’s popularity in karaoke across the country) we worked with BBH and Nike to help make Filipino’s proud of the diversity and unique ways they play the game.
The film ran only once during the half-time of the final to remind the country to stand proud, regardless of the result, but got the entire country standing tall.
OUR GAME. SHOT ON IPHONE
We travelled across India for Apple with Media Arts Lab to capture the true spirit of the way the country plays cricket. We put everyone on an even playing field (though many of the actual playing fields were not at all even) and featured players who are often overlooked; girls, the disabled and the blind.
The film aired during the Cricket World Cup to celebrate the other billion Indian cricketer heroes not in the national team.
THE SURFER’S CODE
We brought the powerful words of Shaun Tomson's ‘Surfers Code’, originally written back in the 80's for a Surfrider event, to life to encourage local surfers to respect the sport, each other and the ocean.
Special thanks to director, Justin McMillan for lovingly crafting this film, Shaun for the wise words, Mick Fanning for his powerful voice and the world's best surfers, surfing cinematographers and the entire team who brought this wonderful film together. We and the waves thank you.
THE NEXT NEYMAR WITH NIKE
Finding parallels with a young aspiring footballer and his own journey, Neymar helped us to inspire the next generation of Malaysian footballers for Nike.
KOBE, THE LAST #24
It’s a sign of respect for a team to retire a number in honour of a great player retiring but we encouraged an entire country to do the honour for Kobe. Props to Aste Gutierrez, Gaston Soto, Omar Sotomayor for bringing this beautiful project to life.
do good for business while doing good
YOU RUN YOU
In some Asian cultures, women traditionally feel that sport is only for males. Nike wanted to show them that the only one holding them back was themself.
rubbish swimmers
We teamed up with the swimmers of Australia’s most famous swim club, The Bondi Icebergs to bring attention to the amount of single-use plastic in our oceans. We featured regulars and world record holders alike, uniting the community for the fight against plastic.
SAVING THE TENEMENT
The community of The Tenement in Manila was facing eviction by the city. Thanks to our friends at Nike, we invited LeBron to come and play at the tenement’s community court while on a tour of The Phillipines.
Teaming with Mike Swift @ pinoyhoops to paint the court in LeBron’s honour, it received global coverage and brought attention to the plight of the community. Basketball loving city officials, including the mayor, attended and publicly announced that the communities homes were safe for the forseeable future.
HACKING THE STREETS FOR RUNNING
No sports facilities are no excuse not to run. We painted 40+ locations around Jakarta to encourage people to just do it.
